BIOGRAFIA DE SABATO


1911 -
born in Rojas, a town of about 5000 inhabitants in the Province of Buenos Aires fruit of the union between Ferrari and Francisco María Juana Sabato. It was the tenth of eleven children.
1924 - Cursa
Rojas primary school and secondary school in the Colegio Nacional de La Plata.

1929 -
Egresa del secundario con el título de bachiller.
Ingresa a la Facultad de Ciencias Físico-Matemáticas de la Universidad de La Plata. Allí recibe la enseñanza de ilustres profesores (alguno de ellos, premio Nobel de medicina).
1933 -
Es elegido Secretario General de la Juventud Comunista. Comienza a dictar cursos libres de marxismo-comunismo. Allí conoce a Matilde Kusminsky Richter, una estudiante de 17 años que abandona la casa de sus padres para vivir con él.
1934 -
Viaja a Bruselas como delegado del Partido Comunista. Llega al 'Congreso contra el Fascismo y la Guerra'. Debido a los inconvenientes reinantes en Moscú (su next destination) decide to leave Congress and run away to Paris. Wrote his first novel, The source move, which was later partially published in the journal "South."
1936 -
returned to Buenos Aires and married Matilda, his greatest support in times of despair, pessimism and hopelessness.
1938 -
obtained his PhD in Physics from the University of La Plata and at the request of Bernardo Houssay, he is granted an annual scholarship for research on atomic radiation in the Curie Laboratory in Paris. His son Jorge Federico.
1939 - Abandon Paris before the outbreak of the Second War World since the grant is transferred to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he worked on cosmic rays. His stay in France allows contact with the group of Surrealists. So slowly begins to lean toward a critical stance of the reality of being human, deep into the darkest areas of consciousness. Thereafter, the contact with surrealism mean to him a transcendent experience: allows you to live the darkest areas of art, based on the language of the unconscious and methods of psychoanalysis.
1940 -
returns to Argentina to teach at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physical Sciences University of La Plata and the Secondary Teachers' Institute in Buenos Aires. Published in the journal "Theseus" an article on "The Invention of Morel", Adolfo Bioy Casares's novel.
1941 -
began to contribute to the journal "South" and is befriended by some members, including Jorge Luis Borges, sisters Victoria and Silvina Ocampo and Adolfo Bioy Casares. These contacts exchange his desire vocation to the field of literature.
1943 -
begins to write his book of essays, One and the Universe. They demonstrated their concerns and their crisis (end of World War II), which lead him to lose faith in science and worry about philosophical issues.
1945 -
Nace su segundo hijo, Mario. Se doctora en Física pero decide abandonar definitivamente la ciencia para dedicarse a las letras y a la pintura. Se publica Uno y el Universo. Le es otorgado el Primer Premio de la Municipalidad de Buenos Aires y el Gran Premio de Honor de la Sociedad Argentina de Escritores (SADE).
1947 -
Le ofrecen un puesto en la UNESCO. Sabato vuelve a París, pero rompe el contrato al cabo de dos meses. Viaja por Italia y Suiza, bosqueja una primera versión de El túnel y regresa a Argentina.
1948 -
Se publica su primera novela, El túnel, sobre un pintor atormentado por un crimen que cometió. La construcción psicológica characters and narrative refined lead him to achieve a sudden prestige.
1950 -
Tunnel is published in the United States.
1951 -
The tunnel is translated into Italian, German and Japanese. In Buenos Aires is published Men and gears.
1952 -

1956 - Public
two letters related to the events of the day: The Other Face of Peronism and Sabato case. The tunnel is published in Paris.
1958 - E
s nombrado director general de Relaciones Culturales en el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, cargo que ocupará por menos de un año.
1961 -
Se publica Sobre héroes y tumbas, donde Sabato narra la historia de un amor entre dos jóvenes psicológicamente opuestos e inmersos en un contexto histórico revisionista.
1963 -
Se publica El escritor y sus fantasmas.
1965 -
En Italia se edita Sobre héroes y tumbas. En Estados Unidos se reedita El túnel.
1967 -
Su obra Sobre héroes y tumbas es traducida al francés y al alemán.
1974 -
Abaddon the destroyer is published, which presents an apocalyptic reality of Argentina through symbolization of facts and men in the country. Awarded the Grand Prize and was named SADE, France, Chevalier of Arts and Letters.
1975 -
Receives National Consecration Argentina.
1976 -
Abaddon the destroyer is rewarded in Paris as the best foreign novel.
1977 - Get in Italy
Medici Prize.
1978 -
in Spain receive the Grand Cross of Civil Merit.
1979 -
receive the appointment of Knight of the Legion of Honor France 'Ernesto Sabato. " Apologies published in Barcelona and rejections.
1983 -
The government is appointed president of the National Commission on Disappeared People (CONADEP). The Municipality of the City of Buenos Aires as named 'Distinguished Citizen'. 1986 -

Recibe en Israel el Premio Jerusalén. Recibe el Doctorado Honoris Causa de la Universidad de Murcia, España.

Recibe el Doctorado Honoris Causa de la Universidad de Rosario, Argentina.
1993 -
Comienza a escribir Antes del fin, libro al que considera su testamento literario.
1995 -
Recibe el Doctorado Honoris Causa de la Universidad de Torino, Italia. Dicta conferencias sobre su obra en las universidades de Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Berkley, Roma, Florencia, Pavia, Salamanca, Madrid y Barcelona. Muere su hijo
Jorge en un accidente automovilístico.
1998 -
Se publica en Buenos Aires un libro de reflexiones y memorias, Antes del fin, donde su típica actitud pesimista deja lugar a una ventana de esperanza.
2000 -
El diario Clarín publica La resistencia por Internet, que posteriormente se edita como libro. Allí se lee una extraña concesión a su concepción filosófica del hombre y la globalización.
- HOY -
Ernesto con 95 gloriosos años, vive en Santos Lugares, provincia de Buenos Aires, donde se dedica exclusivamente a la pintura, puesto que, por prescripción médica, se le ha prohibido escribir y leer.
